Baby gear buying guide for Canada

Car seats used in Canada must carry Transport Canada's National Safety Mark, so a seat bought in the US isn't a substitute. Canadian car seats also have an expiry or useful-life date on the label, which matters if you are given a used seat.

For sleep, Health Canada advises placing babies on their backs in a crib, cradle or bassinet that meets Canadian regulations, with nothing else in the sleep space: no pillows, bumpers or blankets. Drop-side cribs can't be sold in Canada.
