Tools buying guide for Canada

With cordless tools you are really choosing a battery platform. Batteries generally don't cross brands, so the second and third tools you buy should share the first tool's battery. Note that 18V and 20V MAX tools are the same voltage class, labelled differently.

A kit with batteries and a charger costs more up front; once you own the platform, bare tools without batteries are the cheaper way to add more.
