Maybe—but “unlocked” is not the same as fully compatible.
An international phone can connect to a Canadian network and still miss important LTE or 5G bands, VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, carrier support or Canadian manufacturer warranty. Check the exact model number and IMEI with your carrier before checkout.
02 / Compatibility workflow
Five checks, in the right order.

Get the exact model number
Do not rely on “Galaxy A56” or “Moto e15” alone. Regional variants can support different bands, eSIM features and software.

Compare LTE and 5G bands
Use the carrier’s published bands. More supported Canadian bands generally means better coverage across locations.

Confirm VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling
Rogers warns that phones purchased elsewhere may connect on the right frequencies while VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling still does not work. TELUS offers an IMEI compatibility check.

Check IMEI and lock status
Use DeviceCheck.ca for the national lost-or-stolen list, then confirm the phone is unlocked. A dual-SIM label does not prove either point.

Read the warranty and return terms
Canadian manufacturer warranty may not apply to an international model. Confirm who handles repairs, how long coverage lasts and what return fees apply.

A 4G/5G badge is not proof that voice and 9-1-1 will work.
Before checkout, confirm the exact model or IMEI with the carrier you will use. “Unlocked” and matching data bands do not by themselves prove carrier-compatible VoLTE.

Pause if the listing leaves these unanswered.
No regional model number
The family name alone is not enough for a carrier-band decision.
Only “4G compatible”
That does not prove carrier-approved VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling.
“Brand new” without coverage detail
Condition and Canadian manufacturer support are different questions.
