01 / Quick verdict
Choose the FZ45 for replaceable AA convenience. Choose the FZ55 for more zoom and a rechargeable battery.
Both are 16-megapixel compact cameras with 1080p video. The real decision is not image-quality hype—it is battery workflow, zoom reach, pocket size and today’s price.

03 / Which one fits?
Two sensible reasons to pick each camera.
Replaceable power, slightly wider view
AA batteries can be bought almost anywhere and spare sets are easy to carry. The 27 mm-equivalent wide end is slightly wider, which can help with groups and interiors.
Longer zoom, more shots per charge
The 5× optical zoom reaches farther than 4×, and the rechargeable battery is rated for about 200 shots instead of 120. It is also slightly lighter and thinner.
If low-light quality is the main goal
These are small-sensor entry cameras. Compare sample images and consider a larger-sensor used camera if night, indoor or action photography is the priority.
